Job summary

Chandler Unified School District is seeking a Payroll Technician to assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for the district. The role requires accurate data entry, strong math, and proficiency with Word, Excel, and Google Docs/Sheets.

Full-time position with benefits including PTO, holidays, retirement, health and life insurance, wellness and growth credits. Starting immediately, with annual performance pay opportunities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent with appropriate business courses.
  • At least two years data entry and clerical experience; payroll and district experience preferred.
  • Ability to use standard office equipment with speed and accuracy; strong math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Compute, code, extend, verify, and check payroll data for all district employees.
  • Trace errors and make adjustments as needed.
  • Make arithmetic calculations of payroll earnings and deductions; post to records.
  • Make journal entries when required on code changes.
  • Maintain and update a variety of files and records.
  • Prepare a variety of payroll reports and records.
  • Compute payroll from timesheets; perform related duties as assigned.

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New Hire Experience:

CLASSIFICATION: SUPPORT STAFF

JOB TITLE:PAYROLL TECHNICIAN

CALENDAR: 2611H (12 MONTH)

SALARY: GRADE 116 (SUPPORT HOURLY)

Job Goal:

Assist in the preparation and processing of payroll for the district and perform related duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, including appropriate business courses
  • Minimum two years of data entry and clerical experience;payroll and school district experience desired
  • Ability to use standard office equipment with speed and accuracy
  • Strong math skills
  • Computer proficiency to include the use of basic software applications (Word, Excel, etc.) and Google (Docs, Sheets)
  • Ability to work with a computerized system
  • Knowledge of IRS payroll rules and regulations
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, problem solve, and meet deadlines with accurate attention to detail while working with frequent interruptions
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with district personnel at all levels and the public
  • Knowledge of and adherence to district policies and procedures affecting assigned work
