Job summary

Olgoonik seeks a Payroll Technician to perform payroll processing and maintain automated time-keeping systems in Anchorage, AK. The role supports government reporting and requires attention to detail and integrity in handling payroll data.

Responsibilities include processing weekly and bi-weekly payrolls, reviewing timecards, managing deductions and PTO, and producing required reports. Proficiency with ADP WFN and MS Office is preferred, with strong teamwork and multitasking skills expected.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years payroll processing experience.
  • Assoc. degree preferred but may be substituted with accounting experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Experience with ADP WFN or similar payroll software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls accurately and timely.
  • Review timecards for completeness and compliance before entry.
  • Handle deductions, garnishments, PTO, leave, and related payroll transactions.
  • Prepare required payroll reports and certifications.
  • Distribute paychecks and related payroll documents.
  • Maintain payroll databases and resolve discrepancies.
  • Train staff on electronic time-keeping systems.

Overview:

Performs functions related to payroll to include payroll processing, updating and maintaining automated time-keeping systems, and government reporting.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Processes weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for organization in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Reviews timecards for completeness, accuracy, compliance with wage & hour laws, and appropriate approvals before entering time, either manually or via electronic import, into payroll system.
  • Processes salary adjustments, special payments, employee deductions (i.e., insurance, 401k), garnishments, PTO, sick leave, etc. in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Contacts appropriate departments/managers for information needed for corrections or missing times or other related payroll data.
  • Completes payroll process for Supervisors review.
  • Prepares required reporting for certified payrolls.
  • Distributes paychecks, pay stubs, and other payroll related information.
  • Updates and maintains payroll files and databases to reflect personnel payroll changes.
  • Researches discrepancies of payroll information and/or documentation (e.g. contract information, W-4 forms, time sheets, leave time, unemployment eligibility, direct deposit requirements, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring accuracy and adherence to procedures prior to processing.
  • Maintains and updates electronic time-keeping system for new personnel and for personnel changes.
  • Trains employees and managers in the use of electronic time-keeping system.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Supervisory responsibilities are not anticipated.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years payroll processing experience preferred.
  • Associates degree in a related field preferred but may be substituted with applicable accounting experience.
  • Must have excellent attention to detail and basic knowledge of accounting and payroll processes, procedures, and best practices.
  • Must have experience in accounting/payroll software (ADP WFN preferred).
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office programs including; Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.

  • Demonstrate a good attitude and work as a member of a team.
  • Ability to self-motivate.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects with frequent interruptions.
