Job summary

The Bachrach Group seeks a Payroll Systems Delivery Manager in Houston to lead strategy, optimization, and delivery of enterprise payroll systems, with a strong focus on Workday Payroll. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS/IT/Business or related field.
  • CPP certification required.
  • 6+ years enterprise software configuration with 4+ years Workday Payroll experience.
  • Experience managing Workday Payroll testing, releases, analytics, and cross-functional projects.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience developing high-performing teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead Workday Payroll configuration, enhancements, releases, testing, and continuous improvements.
  • Develop requirements and translate payroll needs into scalable system solutions.
  • Manage end-to-end projects: timelines, milestones, ownership, communications, testing, change management.
  • Coordinate software releases, resources, system requirements, and deliverables with IT and Payroll stakeholders.
  • Oversee SIT, UAT, regression testing, data validation, and quality control against business requirements.
  • Direct day-to-day Systems team priorities, processes, and workload, driving efficiency.
  • Identify and implement payroll process improvements for system effectiveness.
  • Ensure payroll systems comply with SOX 404 controls, accuracy, reconciliation, and compliance.

Job description

We are seeking a Payroll Systems Delivery Manager to lead the strategy, optimization, and delivery of enterprise payroll systems, with a primary focus on Workday Payroll. This role partners closely with Payroll, IT, and business stakeholders to drive system enhancements, software releases, testing, process improvements, and operational efficiencies while leading and developing a high-performing Systems team.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead Workday Payroll configuration, enhancements, system releases, testing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop business and functional requirements and translate payroll needs into scalable system solutions.
  • Manage end-to-end projects, including timelines, milestones, ownership, communications, testing, and change management.
  • Partner with IT and Payroll stakeholders to coordinate software releases, technical resources, system requirements, and deliverables.
  • Oversee SIT, UAT, regression testing, data validation, quality control, and analysis to ensure system functionality meets business requirements.
  • Manage day-to-day Systems team priorities, processes, procedures, and workload while driving efficiency and standardization.
  • Identify and implement process and workflow improvements that enhance payroll operations and system effectiveness.
  • Ensure payroll systems and processes support SOX 404 internal controls, accuracy, reconciliation, and compliance requirements.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Payroll Systems team through performance management, career development, staffing, and workforce planning.
  • Manage operational and personnel budgets while supporting recruiting, hiring, compensation, and career advancement initiatives.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Business, or a related field required.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification required.
  • 6+ years of enterprise software configuration experience with increasing responsibility, including 4+ years of Workday Payroll experience.
  • Experience managing Workday Payroll testing, software releases, analytics, and cross-functional projects.
  • Leadership or supervisory experience with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
