Job summary

6AM City, LLC seeks an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager to lead high-volume U.S. payroll operations from Hanover, Maryland, on a long-term contract basis.

The role requires strong multi-state expertise, including California payroll, and the ability to partner with stakeholders to ensure accurate, timely payroll execution. We are looking for an experienced Payroll Supervisor/Manager to join a team in Hanover, Maryland on a Long-term Contract assignment. This role is suited for a payroll leader who can confidently manage high-volume U.S. payroll operations, work independently, and provide steady support in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate brings strong multi-state payroll knowledge, including substantial California payroll experience, and is comfortable stepping in as a reliable partner for ongoing payroll execution.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for a large U.S. employee population, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Manage payroll activities across multiple states, with particular attention to complex California payroll regulations and requirements.
• Serve as a senior-level payroll resource who can operate with minimal supervision and take ownership of daily payroll functions.
• Review payroll data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues proactively to maintain smooth and accurate payroll operations.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to support payroll continuity while broader payroll system initiatives and implementation efforts move forward.
• Use ADP Vantage as the primary payroll platform and contribute expertise to maintain effective payroll processing and reporting.
• Help strengthen payroll procedures by recommending improvements, reinforcing controls, and supporting efficient workflows.
• At least 5 years of payroll experience, including leadership-level or manager-caliber payroll responsibility.
• Demonstrated success processing bi-weekly payroll for large employee populations, ideally exceeding 500 employees.
• Strong knowledge of multi-state payroll administration, including significant hands-on experience with California payroll.
• Practical experience using ADP Vantage in a production payroll environment.
• Ability to work independently, show initiative, and handle sensitive payroll matters with sound judgment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines in a high-volume setting.
• Availability to work remotely with the ability to come onsite in Hanover, Maryland if needed.
