Job summary

CR&R Incorporated is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to lead a team and manage payroll for 1,500+ employees across multiple states. You will ensure accurate, compliant processing and drive continuous improvement in payroll operations.

The role requires 5+ years of payroll experience with supervision, strong California wage-and-hour knowledge, advanced Excel skills, and experience with Paycom or similar HRIS systems. CPP and bilingual Spanish are a plus.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of payroll experience with supervisory responsibilities.
• Experience processing payroll for a large, multi-state workforce.
• Strong knowledge of California wage and hour laws and payroll compliance.
• Advanced Excel and Paycom or similar HRIS experience.
• Bachelor's degree; CPP certification and bilingual Spanish are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise daily payroll operations and lead payroll staff.
• Process payroll for a multi-state workforce with accuracy and compliance.
• Audit timecards, deductions, overtime, garnishments and tax withholdings.
• Resolve complex payroll issues with HR, Finance and Operations.
• Lead reconciliations, reporting, audits and internal controls.
• Improve payroll procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy.

Payroll Supervisor

Salary Range: $70,304 - 80,000/year

If you’re an experienced payroll professional who enjoys leading by example while staying involved in the day-to-day process, CR&R is looking for you. This is a hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring accurate, compliant payroll processing for a large multi‑state workforce while supervising a small payroll team and driving continuous improvement.

Your leadership will help improve processes, support operational excellence, and provide exceptional service to employees across multiple locations.

What You’ll Do

• Supervise the daily operations of the payroll department while providing leadership and support to payroll staff
• Review and process payroll for a multi-state workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance
• Audit timecards, payroll adjustments, deductions, overtime, garnishments, and tax withholdings
• Resolve complex payroll issues while partnering with Human Resources, Finance, and Operations
• Lead payroll reconciliations, reporting, audits, and internal control processes
• Develop and improve payroll procedures to increase efficiency and accuracy
• Train, coach, and develop payroll personnel while maintaining exceptional customer service

What We’re Looking For

• Five or more years of payroll experience, including supervisory or lead responsibilities
• Experience processing payroll for a large, multi-location or multi-state employer
• Strong understanding of California wage and hour laws and payroll compliance
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with HRIS/payroll systems such as Paycom
• Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
• CPP certification, Bachelor’s degree, bilingual Spanish, and industrial or transportation industry experience are a plus
