Job summary

CFS in North Seattle is seeking a seasoned payroll professional to own the full payroll function as the sole payroll lead. You will manage biweekly full-cycle processing for all employees, review timesheets, deductions, and tax filings, and partner with the accounting team to ensure accuracy.

This onsite role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and opportunities to drive process improvements within a stable organization.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll experience with full-cycle payroll processing, payroll taxes, reconciliations.
• Experience independently managing payroll operations or as primary payroll contact preferred.
• Union payroll experience desirable, including collective bargaining agreements and related compliance.
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Proficiency with payroll systems, accounting software, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the sole payroll lead, managing the full-cycle biweekly payroll for all employees.
• Review and process timesheets, direct deposits, manual checks, deductions, garnishments, and benefit payroll transactions.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare payroll tax filings, W-2 reporting, payroll reconciliations, and audit support documentation.
• Reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and prepare journal entries for accurate financial reporting.
• Administer and maintain payroll system configurations, including leave plans and pay schedules.
• Partner with Finance on budgeting, position control, payroll forecasting, and labor cost analysis.
• Research and resolve employee payroll inquiries, discrepancies, and complex payroll issues.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and ensure payroll best practices.

As the sole payroll professional, you will oversee all aspects of the payroll process from start to finish while partnering closely with the accounting and finance team. Beyond payroll administration, you'll contribute to accounting operations, budgeting support, compliance initiatives, and process improvements. Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll experience with demonstrated expertise in full-cycle payroll processing, payroll taxes, reconciliations, and accounting principles.
• Experience independently managing payroll operations or serving as the primary payroll contact strongly preferred.
• Union payroll experience highly desirable, including interpretation and application of collective bargaining agreements, union dues administration, contract pay provisions, and related compliance requirements.
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Advanced attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing deadlines.
• Proficiency with payroll systems, accounting software, and Excel.
