Job summary

ALFRED is seeking a Payroll Specialist in Los Angeles to manage day-to-day payroll operations and ensure accurate, on-time compensation across corporate and cafe locations. You will review timekeeping, maintain records, and resolve discrepancies in collaboration with People, Operations, and Finance.

The role emphasizes compliance with federal and California wage-and-hour requirements, as well as providing confidential, accurate payroll support to managers and employees while improving processes

Qualifications

• 2–4 years in payroll, accounting, HR operations, or related field.
• Experience supporting a multi-location or high-volume hourly workforce.
• Working knowledge of federal and California wage-and-hour requirements.
• Strong numerical aptitude and ability to resolve payroll discrepancies.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end payroll processing to ensure accurate, on-time pay.
• Review timekeeping data, hours, PTO, overtime, deductions, and reimbursements.
• Maintain payroll records, support hires, changes, offboarding, audits, and year-end activities.
• Identify discrepancies, process adjustments, off-cycle payments, and final pay as needed.
• Support payroll compliance reporting across federal and California requirements.
• Resolve payroll tax notices and inquiries with cross-functional teams.
