Job summary

SoFi is seeking a Payroll Specialist to support our growing business and payroll operations for the U.S. market.

You will work within the Payroll Team to prepare, process and balance payroll, handling employee inquiries and coordinating with Finance and HR to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include processing regular and off-cycle payrolls, reconciling reports, validating timekeeping, and assisting with audits.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience processing payroll.
• Knowledge of Workday systems desired.
• Proficiency in Gmail and Microsoft Office Suite is essential with intermediate or advanced Excel skills.
• Excellent customer service skills with an ability to effectively handle and resolve employee inquiries and issues.
• Solid understanding of federal and state wage and hour laws including payroll taxes, withholding, deductions and garnishments.
• Must exhibit strong personal integrity and be capable of working with sensitive information and keeping sensitive information confidential.
• Ability to meet project deadlines and prioritize tasks with focus on results and accuracy of the payroll.
• Ability to function in a highly collaborative environment
• Attention to detail and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy under pressure
• Organizational, Multi-Tasking and Prioritization skills
• Exemplary Communication skills
• Experience using a ticketing system such as ServiceNow or Jira

Responsibilities

• Process regular and off-cycle payrolls for assigned populations.
• Ensure accurate calculation of wages, overtime, bonuses, and retroactive pay.
• Review and reconcile payroll reports prior to submission.
• Validate timekeeping data and resolve discrepancies with managers/HR.
• Process manual checks for terminations, bonuses and lost checks.
• Assist with payroll audits and respond to agency inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
• Respond to employee inquiries concerning payroll to maintain satisfaction.
• Document payroll procedures and maintain internal controls.
• Support SOX or internal audit requirements.
• Identify process gaps and suggest improvements.
