Job summary

Qualifications

• Skills in payroll and/or general accounting procedures.
• Knowledge of payroll tax laws, deductions, W-4s and W-2s.
• Effective written and oral communication.
• Ability to balance and prepare reports.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and automated payroll systems.
• Occasional overtime may be required.
• Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Acts as City’s primary resource for payroll information.
• Updates and reports employee payroll data.
• Initiates payroll interface for ACH payments and related memos.
• Prepares and balances payroll deduction reports.
• Reports new employees to Missouri authorities each payroll.
• Processes monthly, quarterly, and yearly payroll tax reports.
• Manages year-end calendar and leave conversions.
• Researches payroll inquiries and employment verifications.
• Sets up and verifies direct payroll deposits.
• Maintains Pension and payroll documentation for related plans.
