Job summary

Cobalt Service Partners is hiring a Payroll Specialist to own accurate, on-time payroll across several operating businesses in Texas. You will manage multiple pay calendars, document procedures, and help build scalable payroll processes as we grow.

You'll join a startup environment with collaboration across HR, accounting, and local managers, ensuring compliance and timely filings while maintaining strict data confidentiality and high accuracy.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing across multiple entities.
• Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax rules.
• Experience with at least one major payroll platform (ADP/Paychex/Paylocity/Gusto/UKG).
• Excellent Excel skills and strict confidentiality.
• Clear communication with employees and managers.

Responsibilities

• Run end-to-end payroll for multiple businesses on various schedules.
• Verify hours, hires, terminations, changes, bonuses and commissions.
• Manage deductions, garnishments, PTO accruals and benefit withholdings.
• Reconcile payroll with general ledger and prepare journal entries.
• Support audits and year-end close; ensure timely tax filings.
