Job summary

Shenandoah University in Winchester, VA, is seeking a Payroll Specialist in the Payroll Department. This salaried, benefited position is based in the Bowman building in Winchester, VA.

The role handles student payroll cycles, timecard reviews, tax withholding compliance, and serves as the primary contact for student employees and supervisors, with additional payroll tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university required.
  • Bi-lingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • Entry-level position; previous college/university experience preferred.

  • Prepares payroll reports by collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and balancing information from timekeeping system.
  • Receives, processes, and maintains records on various payroll issues such as garnishments and benefits deduction adjustments. Reconciles all payroll records as necessary. Processes pay adjustments, and other payroll actions as necessary.

Job description

Shenandoah University's Payroll Department is accepting applications for a Payroll Specialist. This is a salaried, benefited position located in the Bowman building in Winchester, VA.

Responsibilities
  • Processes assigned student payroll cycles, reviews student timecards, maintains employee tax withholding compliance, and serves as the primary point of contact for student employees and their supervisors, as well as other payroll-related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • This entry-level position requires a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year College or University. Bi-lingual applicants are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working in a college or university environment.

A pre-employment background check will be required, and a satisfactory driving record may be required as a condition of hire. Authorized to work in the United States is a pre-condition of employment. At this time, Shenandoah University is not in a position to sponsor international visas.
