Job summary

PACS is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage multi-state payroll processing for the Salt Lake City campus. You will ensure accurate hours, overtime, deductions, and benefits while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Join our team in person at PACS Downtown Campus, Utah, and collaborate with HR to report on benefits and time-off. The role requires knowledge of payroll tax rules, experience with Workday or ADP, and strong customer service skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Payroll Specialist or similar with multi-state processing; CPP/FPC a plus.
• Knowledge of payroll software (Workday, ADP).
• Strong payroll tax knowledge and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Review and process multi-state bi-weekly payroll for multiple entities.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Handle payroll inquiries from entity payroll coordinators.
• Collaborate with HR on benefits and time-off reporting.
• Prepare off-cycle payrolls for terminations and retroactive pay.
• Support audits with documentation and explanations.
• Stay current on payroll trends and best practices.
• Provide training and support to payroll coordinators.
• Assist with special projects as needed.

General Purpose

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage all aspects of payroll processing and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and process multi-state bi-weekly payroll for employees of multiple entities, ensuring accuracy in hours worked, overtime, extra pay, benefits, and deductions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
• Handle payroll-related inquiries from multiple entity payroll coordinators and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Collaborate with the HR department to ensure accurate reporting of employee benefits and time-off requests.
• Prepare and process off-cycle payrolls for employee terminations and retroactive pay in accordance with state regulations.
• Support audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Stay current on payroll trends and best practices to enhance payroll processes.
• Provide ongoing training and support to entity payroll coordinators.
• Assist with projects as required.

Qualifications

• Experience in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• Proven experience as a Payroll Specialist or in a similar role doing multi-state processing. (CPP or FPC a plus!)
• Knowledge of payroll software and systems (e.g., Workday, ADP).
• Strong understanding of payroll tax regulations and compliance requirements.
• Excellent customer service, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

Location: This is an in-person role located at PACS Downtown Campus in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Physical Demands

• Primarily sedentary office-based role (or remote computer-based work)
• Prolonged periods of sitting while performing payroll processing and data entry
• Frequent use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and telephone
• Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching as needed
• May occasionally lift or carry light items (up to 10 lbs), such as documents or office supplies
• Requires visual acuity and manual dexterity for detailed data review and system navigation
• Requires ability to focus for extended periods while working with sensitive and confidential information
