Job summary

CornerStone Professional Placement seeks a Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients in a multi-state environment. This onsite role in Shenandoah, TX focuses on accuracy, compliance, and timely payroll cycles.

You will audit hours, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings, serve as the primary client contact, and collaborate with onboarding and support teams to validate data and system configurations.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing experience.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax compliance and wage/hour laws.
  • CPP or FPC designation.

Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll for multiple clients, including regular, off-cycle, and supplemental payroll runs.
  • Audit hours, earnings, deductions, garnishments, tax withholdings, and other payroll data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for assigned clients, resolving discrepancies and communicating payroll deadlines, status, and required actions.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements, wage and hour regulations, W-2 processing, ACA reporting, and year-end reconciliation.
  • Partner with onboarding, implementation, and internal support teams to validate payroll data, system configurations, integrations, and data migrations.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE
  • Compensation is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
  • Onsite position in Shenandoah, TX.
ROLE IMPACT

The Payroll Specialist manages accurate, timely, end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of clients. This role serves as a key client resource for multi-state payroll, compliance, reporting, and issue resolution while ensuring each payroll cycle is completed accurately and on schedule.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Process full-cycle, multi-state payroll for multiple clients, including regular, off-cycle, and supplemental payroll runs.
  • Audit hours, earnings, deductions, garnishments, tax withholdings, and other payroll data for accuracy and compliance.
  • Serve as the primary payroll contact for assigned clients, resolving discrepancies and communicating payroll deadlines, status, and required actions.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax requirements, wage and hour regulations, W-2 processing, ACA reporting, and year-end reconciliation.
  • Partner with onboarding, implementation, and internal support teams to validate payroll data, system configurations, integrations, and data migrations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • 5+ years of full-cycle, multi-state payroll processing experience, preferably supporting multiple clients or working in a payroll service bureau environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal and multi-state payroll tax compliance, wage and hour laws, garnishment processing, and payroll reconciliation.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) designation.

PREFERRED SKILLS
  • Experience with HCM platforms such as UKG, Dayforce, Workday, or isolved.
  • Experience with payroll implementation, system configuration, or payroll data migration projects.
  • Familiarity with benefits administration, 401(k) integrations, and benefits deduction management.
