Job Description

The Payroll Specialist is a senior, hands‑on payroll professional responsible for accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing across the United States, EMEA, and APAC. This role owns recurring payroll activities from input collection and validation through reconciliation, funding, reporting, and issue resolution, working closely with employees, HR, Finance, Accounting, and external payroll providers.

The ideal candidate combines deep U.S. payroll expertise with meaningful multi-country payroll experience, strong judgment, and a process-improvement mindset. They are comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving technology environment, managing overlapping deadlines across time zones, and translating complex payroll requirements into clear, repeatable processes. This individual will help strengthen controls, improve data quality, and scale payroll operations as SiTime grows globally. We value diverse experiences, perspectives, and career paths, and welcome candidates who are excited to contribute to our mission.

Responsibilities

  • Process end-to-end payrolls on both semi-monthly and monthly schedules and coordinate recurring payrolls across North America, EMEA and APAC using both ADP Workforce Now or local payroll providers.
  • Collect, validate, and process payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, commissions, equity-related income, benefits, time off, leaves, garnishments, deductions, and off-cycle payments.
  • Review payroll registers, variance reports, tax calculations, statutory deductions, net pay, and funding requirements before payroll approval and release.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and maintain complete, accurate payroll records and audit support across all assigned countries.
  • Partner with HR, Finance, Accounting, Equity Administration, Legal, and payroll vendors to resolve discrepancies, meet close deadlines, and maintain accurate data flow between systems.
  • Research and resolve employee and manager payroll questions with urgency, discretion, and a high standard of customer service.
  • Support quarter-end and year-end activities, including tax reporting, statutory filings, benefits and retirement reconciliations, and country-specific reporting requirements.
  • Monitor payroll vendor performance, follow up on issues, and confirm timely completion of required filings, payments, and deliverables.
  • Maintain process documentation, payroll calendars, checklists, approval evidence, and control procedures that support audit readiness and business continuity.
  • Identify root causes, recommend practical improvements, and help automate or standardize payroll processes, reports, and controls.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc payroll reporting, analyze variances and trends, and provide clear explanations to business partners.
  • Protect confidential employee information and apply sound judgment when handling sensitive payroll, tax, and personal data.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10+ years of progressive payroll experience, including substantial hands‑on responsibility for both U.S. and international payroll processing.
  • Demonstrated experience processing payroll across multiple countries in EMEA and APAC through third‑party payroll providers or an equivalent global payroll model.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll practices, wage and hour requirements, payroll taxation, deductions, garnishments, leaves, and year‑end reporting.
  • Experience reviewing and reconciling complex payrolls, investigating variances, and maintaining strong controls and audit documentation.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookup and conditional formulas, data validation, and reconciliation of large data sets.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or a comparable U.S. payroll platform and familiarity with HRIS, benefits, equity, timekeeping, and general ledger interfaces.
  • Experience supporting payroll in a public company, technology company, or similarly fast‑paced, high‑growth global environment strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple payroll calendars, deadlines, and time‑zone dependencies with limited oversight.
  • English proficiency is required, including the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate, and perform job responsibilities in a professional business environment.

Desired Attributes

  • Creative problem solver who improves processes rather than accepting inefficient workarounds.
  • Courageous and accountable, willing to raise risks early, ask the right questions, and own issues through resolution.
  • Relentless about accuracy, deadlines, follow-through, and continuous improvement.
  • Authentic and discreet when handling sensitive information, including a willingness to acknowledge and correct errors quickly.
  • Leads through ownership, sound judgment, and dependable execution, regardless of title.
  • Team-oriented and respectful, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions, cultures, and time zones.
  • Calm under pressure, highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to shift priorities as business needs evolve.
