Job summary

Hoffman Construction is seeking a detail-oriented project accountant to support onsite accounting for a Boise, ID project. You will work closely with project leadership and multiple departments to ensure accurate financial processing and timely reporting.

The role requires at least three years in construction accounting, payroll/cost accounting experience, and strong teamwork. Onsite work at the Boise project site is required, with competitive pay and incentives.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or General Business Management preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of accounting and/or office management experience in construction, engineering, or architecture.
  • Experience with cost accounting, AP/AR, contract administration, and payroll auditing in construction.
  • Experience in a similar accounting role within construction preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process subcontractor billings and material invoices for the project.
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports using Elations.
  • Track and review subcontractor certified payroll submissions.
  • Support payroll department in new hire paperwork, time entry, and payroll processing.
  • Assist with compliance with federal, state, and local payroll/wage laws.
  • Assist with payroll audits as needed.
  • Support other departmental projects and data requests.
  • Provide timely follow-ups and clear communication with internal and external customers.

Job description

Position Summary: We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable project accountant to assist with the onsite accounting needs. This role will be working closely with project leadership and various internal/external departments. The ideal candidate is a collaborative problem-solver and a strong team-focused attitude. This position will be fully at the project site located in Boise, ID.

Salary Range:$70,000 – $90,000 + Incentives

  • Responsible for processing subcontractor billings and all material invoices for the project.
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports using Elations.
  • Track and review subcontractor certified payroll submissions.
  • Support corporate craft payroll department in the processing of union payroll) new hire paperwork, time entry, payroll check processing, etc.)
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
  • Assist with payroll audits as needed.
  • Support other departmental projects, data requests, compliance requirements as needed.
  • Provide outstanding service through timely and effective follow-ups and communications with both internal and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Experience and Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or General Business Management is preferred.
  • At least three (3) years of accounting and/or office management experience in the construction, engineering, or architectural field required.
  • Experience with cost accounting, AP/AR functions, contract administration, invoice processing/auditing, and its relationship within the construction industry.
  • Experience in similar accounting role within the construction industry preferred.

Position Related Skills:

  • Proficient inWindows and Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Power Point and Teams) and have a general understanding of working within a computer network.
  • Working knowledge of JDE or similar ERP platform preferred. Working knowledge of Elation Systems and certified payroll compliance/submission preferred.
  • Excellent time-management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work while frequently interrupted by phone calls and questions on work in progress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with an ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well in a large professional setting. Patience and professionalism are essential.
  • Must be a strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various personnel within and across departments and at all levels of leadership.

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Standing/Walking/Sitting: Workday is combination of sitting/walking and standing.
  • Legs: Must be able to climb stairs - 20% of day.
  • Hands/Arms: Constant use of hands/fingers for mouse/keyboard/computer use.
  • Vision: Visual acuity in near, mid and far range vision. Color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, hand/eye coordination.
  • Hearing: Sufficient to hear conversational levels in person and over the telephone andradio; sufficient to hear alarms on equipment.
  • Speech: Sufficient to make oneself heard in person, speak in front of groups, and be understood over the telephone and radio.
  • Lift/Carry: Up to 50lb computer/drawings- minimal.
  • Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: Minimal.
  • Constant mental alertness, accuracy, and attention to detail required.
  • Work independently, make decisions, and follow through on all assignments.
  • Use creativity, independent judgment, and organizational and problem-solving skills to determine best method to accomplish desired results.
  • Plan and organize work.
  • Strong organization and computer use skills and have a high level of competency to read/write/speak English, interpret construction related documentation and communicate with coworkers.
