Job summary

Worth & Company, Inc. is seeking a Certified Payroll Specialist to prepare and file weekly payroll reports for multiple jurisdictions. The role supports compliance with Davis-Bacon, state regulations, and labor laws across PA, NJ, DE, and MD, leveraging experience in the construction industry.

Qualifications

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or equivalent payroll experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of payroll processing experience, preferably in construction.
  • Strong knowledge of PA, NJ, DE, and MD payroll regulations and prevailing wage rules.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports (Davis-Bacon and state-specific requirements).
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including prevailing wage requirements.
  • Assist in weekly payroll for employees accurately and on time.
  • Maintain and audit payroll records, verifying hours, wages, deductions, and benefits.
  • Monitor wage determinations and fringe benefits allocations as applicable.
  • Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Project Management on employee classification and job costing.
  • Stay current with payroll tax laws for PA, NJ, DE, and MD.
  • Process garnishments, levies, and other payroll adjustments per law.
  • Support audits related to payroll and year-end reporting (W-2).

We are looking for a Certified Payroll Specialist to prepare and file weekly reports with the appropriate taxing jurisdictions and assist with other payroll tasks. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry and be well-versed in multi-state payroll processing and labor compliance requirements, particularly in Pennsylvania (PA), New Jersey (NJ), Delaware (DE), and Maryland (MD).

This role plays a critical part in ensuring payroll accuracy, regulatory compliance, and proper reporting for both internal stakeholders and external agencies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports (e.g., Davis-Bacon and state-specific reporting requirements)
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
  • Assist in weekly payroll for employees accurately and on time
  • Maintain and audit payroll records, ensuring accuracy of employee hours, wages, deductions, and benefits
  • Monitor compliance with wage determinations, and fringe benefit allocations (if applicable)
  • Collaborate with HR, Accounting, and Project Management teams to ensure proper employee classification and job costing
  • Stay current with payroll tax laws and regulations, especially within PA, NJ, DE, and MD
  • Process garnishments, levies, and other payroll adjustments in accordance with legal requirements
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll
  • Assist with year-end reporting, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in construction or related industries with job costing and labor tracking
  • Experience preparing or working with certified payroll reporting forms (WH-347 or equivalents)
