Position Overview
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll for multiple clients across various industries, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Core Experience & Qualifications
- Payroll processing experience (5 years preferred, 2 years required)
- Working knowledge of payroll tax filings and compliance matters
- Experience with payroll software (QuickBooks and/or Accounting CS is a bonus)
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to details
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfortable with Adobe tools
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Problem-solving mindset
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Responsibilities
- Process payroll for multiple clients
- Ensure timely and accurate federal and state payroll tax filings
- Maintain payroll records
- Respond to payroll notices and assist with agency correspondence
- Payroll system set up; assist with client transitions
- Understand and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations
- Bookkeeping duties including sales tax filings
- Support tax team and administrative team as needed
