Job description

SDI's Long Products Division, Steel of West Virginia, has an immediate opening for a Payroll Specialist.

Responsibilities

• Managing and processing payroll weekly for 700+ employees.
• Communicating with all levels of management and all employees regarding pay and benefits.
• Preparing and analyzing reports in UKG payroll software, as well as Excel.
• Processing voluntary and involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments.
• Maintaining confidentiality of employee information.
• Writing, proposing, and posting journal entries.
• Reconciling general and subledger accounts by gathering and balancing information.
• Maintaining accounting controls by following policies and procedures in addition to complying with federal, state, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
• Supporting accounting functions as needed.
• Special projects and additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least a 4-year degree in accounting or business (or related experience).
• High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Ability to execute and follow through to completion and documentation.
