Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals in Fort Mill, SC is seeking a Payroll Specialist to maintain payroll files and process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls along with bonuses and fringe benefits.

The role requires 4+ years of payroll experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Workday experience is preferred; attention to detail and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/training in Accounting, Finance, or HR is preferred.
  • 4+ years of payroll experience with knowledge of payroll principles, tax regulations, and deductions.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Proficient oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Workday software is preferred; proficiency with MS Office is required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain Payroll files and records accurately.
  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, and semi-monthly payrolls; monthly/quarterly bonuses and fringe benefits.
  • Print and mail payroll checks.
  • Maintain payroll records and liaise between Branches and Support Office.
  • Ensure high accuracy in data entry.
  • Communicate effectively, diplomatically, and professionally with management on payroll inquiries.
  • Verify, distribute, and answer questions about employee W-2 forms.
  • Review calculation errors to ensure accurate pay and avoid penalties.
  • Prepare reports, forms, and correspondence using prescribed formats.
  • Support field requests via ticketing system for payroll inquiries.
  • Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures.
  • Identify process efficiencies and recommend changes.
  • Maintain confidentiality in payroll processes and with employee interactions.
  • Prioritize and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Collaborate with staff at all levels and build cooperative relationships.
  • Perform other duties or special projects as assigned by Manager.
