Job summary

DLRdmv is recruiting a Payroll Specialist in Dallas to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

The role collaborates with HR, Finance, and managers to provide excellent service, maintain data integrity, and support audits and year-end activities. A degree and 3+ years of payroll experience are preferred, with strong Excel and Rippling HRIS knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business or related field preferred.
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Rippling experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance.
  • High attention to detail with analytical and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools.
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting payroll deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly payrolls, ensuring wages, deductions, taxes, and adjustments are accurate and completed on time.
  • Review and maintain employee payroll information (new hires, terminations, changes, deductions, garnishments, direct deposits, tax elections).
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and company policies.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for payroll questions and provide high levels of service.
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with HR/Finance before finalizing payroll.
  • Prepare payroll reports for Finance, HR, and leadership; assist with audits and year-end activities (W-2).
  • Ensure payroll/HRIS data accuracy and propose process improvements for efficiency.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information.

Job description

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role partners closely with Human Resources, Finance, and managers to provide exceptional service to employees and safeguard the integrity of payroll data.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process bi-weekly payrolls, ensuring employee wages, deductions, taxes, and adjustments are accurate and completed within established deadlines
  • Review and maintain employee payroll information, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, garnishments, direct deposits, and tax elections
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws, payroll tax regulations, and company policies
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions, resolving issues professionally and maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Perform payroll reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and work with HR and Finance to resolve issues before payroll is finalized
  • Prepare payroll reports for Finance, HR, and leadership while assisting with internal and external audits and year-end activities, including W-2 preparation
  • Ensure payroll and HRIS systems are updated with accurate employee data and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee compensation and personal information while adhering to company security and privacy standards
Qualifications
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems (Rippling experience preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and payroll compliance
  • High attention to detail with exceptional analytical and organizational skills
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and reporting tools
  • Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while consistently meeting payroll deadlines
