Payroll Specialist
Trifecta Services Company is currently seeking a talented Payroll Specialist to join our growing team as a leader in the demolition and environmental space. Headquartered in Charlotte, NC, Trifecta Services Company is one of the largest demolition companies in North America.
Payroll Specialist Responsibilities
- Processing multi-state payroll accurately and timely in accordance with state and federal laws on a weekly basis.
- Responsible for preparation of payroll, importing data for payroll, resolving discrepancies, managing changes, and ensuring compliance with court-ordered payroll matters (child support, garnishments, etc.).
- Responsible for posting journal entries in general ledger for payroll purposes.
- Assist with fiscal year-end reconciliation and processing of W-2s and ACA 1095-C forms.
- Update payroll information relating to new hires, terminated employees, withholding allowances, pay rate changes, status changes, benefit deductions, payroll garnishments, direct deposits, etc.
- Maintain up to date knowledge of city, state, local, and federal legislation affecting payroll.
- Assist with employment verification forms/provide verbal salary verifications from lending institutions, state agencies, and other organizations.
- Responsible for processing weekly disbursements for 401k, benefits, HSA Plans, etc.
- Assist with COBRA Administration.
- Assists with fiscal year-end reconciliation and processing of W-2s.
- Assist Accounting and Human Resources as needed with general accounting task such as journal entries, reconciliation, etc.
Please note this position is structured to allocate approximately 70% of the time to payroll duties and 30% to general accounting/administrative task.
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience – 2-5 years of relevant experience in the accomplishment of payroll. Familiarity with general accounting principles is required.
- Prior experience working in the construction industry is preferred.
- Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality as this position is responsible for and comes into contact with personal, confidential, and protected information on a daily basis.
- Working knowledge of Federal and State labor laws.
- Quick Books,Paychex or ADP experience a plus.
- Excellent Microsoft Excel experience required.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational and multi-tasking abilities, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, interpersonal skills.
- Team player with the ability to participate in planning processes and work with others to meet goals and objectives.
- Bilingual a plus.
Physical Demands
- This position requires significant work at a desk but also requires walking, talking, and standing as needed to meet with employees, conduct meetings, etc.
- Requires lifting up to 20 pounds (files/uniforms/etc.) and bending (most frequently related to filing).
- Works extended hours as workload dictates.
- Ability to work well while under considerable stress/pressure.
