We are seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our team and contribute to our innovative approach to sustainability.### Key facts**Location:** Carson City, NV**Engagement:** Full-time**Team:** Payroll### What you'll do* Participate in the payroll processing cycle by meticulously reviewing all inputs, outputs, and controls to ensure accuracy.* Conduct thorough analyses of payroll data to identify trends, variances, and cost factors that may impact the organization.* Produce and maintain both regular and ad-hoc payroll reports for the Finance and HR departments, ensuring timely and accurate delivery.* Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end payroll reporting and closing activities to support financial accuracy.* Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations to mitigate risks associated with non-compliance.* Review tax filings, payments, and reconciliations prepared by external vendors or internal teams to ensure accuracy and completeness.* Support compliance with multi-state payroll regulations and assist in the setup of jurisdictional requirements as needed.* Facilitate both internal and external payroll audits, addressing inquiries and providing necessary documentation.* Identify opportunities for improving payroll processes, controls, and system efficiencies to enhance overall performance.* Document payroll procedures, workflows, and internal controls to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.* Assist in the implementation, upgrades, and testing of payroll systems to ensure they meet organizational needs.* Advocate for automation and standardization initiatives aimed at reducing errors and minimizing manual tasks in payroll processing.* Collaborate effectively with HR, Finance, Accounting, and IT teams to ensure seamless data flow and communication across departments.### Requirements* A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree being ideal.* A minimum of 3 to 5 years of payroll experience, preferably within a mid-sized or large organization, is required.* A solid understanding of payroll taxes, wage and hour laws, and compliance requirements is essential for this role.* Experience in reconciling payroll with the general ledger is highly desirable.* Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the ability to use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and complex formulas, is necessary.* Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP, Workday, Paychex, UKG, or Ceridian is important, with a preference for candidates experienced with Workday.* Knowledge of HRIS and accounting software integrations is advantageous.* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for success in this position.* A keen attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy are essential traits for this role.* Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across various functions are required.* A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and efficiency is highly valued.### Nice to have* Experience with payroll system implementations or upgrades would be a plus, enhancing your candidacy for this position.### Skills & tools* Proficiency in payroll software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills are critical for this role.* A solid understanding of compliance regulations and payroll auditing processes is essential for ensuring adherence to legal standards.### Practical notesThis position does not require any travel, allowing for a stable work-life balance.
