Job summary

Quanta Services is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team. This onsite role supports new-hire entry, weekly timecard processing, and employee record maintenance across a large field and shop workforce.

You will manage multi-rate and job-costed labor, ensure compliance with union or prevailing wage requirements, and collaborate with project management and accounting to ensure accurate labor distribution and reporting.

Qualifications

• 2 to 4 years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
• Working knowledge of basic payroll concepts including pay rates, deductions, garnishments, taxes, and direct deposit.
• Proficiency with payroll or timekeeping software; comfortable in Excel including sorting, filters, and basic lookups.
• High attention to detail with the ability to meet firm weekly deadlines.
• Ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Enter new hires into the payroll system accurately and completely, including pay rates, deductions, direct deposit, and tax setup.
• Review, validate, and key weekly timecards for field crews and shop employees; follow up on missing or incorrect data.
• Ensure labor is properly allocated to jobs and cost codes for job costing; coordinate corrections with project managers and accounting.
• Maintain employee pay profiles including multiple rates, union classifications, fringes, deductions, garnishments, and direct deposit.
• Respond to employee pay questions and resolve routine issues with attention to confidentiality.
• Support the payroll team during weekly payroll close, month-end, and year-end tasks as directed.
• Maintain organized records and documentation in line with retention requirements.
• Support continuous improvement of payroll processes and controls; document procedures and participate in system upgrades and testing.

About this Role

Quanta Services is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our payroll team. This role supports new-hire entry, weekly timecard processing, and employee record maintenance across a large field and shop workforce. This position is fully onsite. Overtime may be required during weekly payroll processing, project start-ups, or year-end activities.
