Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Approximately 12 years of education with related work experience is preferred.
• Two years of clerical work experience are required.
• Two years of experience working with computers.
• Two years of payroll or accounting experience.

Responsibilities

• Compute and prepare Borough Payroll and maintain payroll files.
• Run, print and prepare reports for check runs.
• Review payroll transactions and correct errors.
• Prepare check requests and journal entries as needed.
• Compile data for reports and reconcile records for compliance.
• Process payroll transactions in accordance with rules and regulations.
• Enter payroll data into computer systems and maintain databases.
• Review and process timesheets and address errors with timekeepers.
• Maintain payroll-related documents and records.
• Respond to payroll inquiries from Borough departments and external agencies.
• Handle involuntary withholding requests and ensure form completeness.
• Print and distribute bi-weekly timesheets; may cover Payroll Specialist III duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Strong knowledge of payroll accounting and record-keeping principles.
