Job summary

Encompass Community Supports in Culpeper, VA is hiring an Accountant I – Payroll Operations to prepare, process and maintain payroll records. The role analyzes financial data and works under regular supervision within a Virginia state community services organization.

Responsibilities include biweekly payroll processing, tax filings, GL reconciliations, and generating payroll-related reports to support budgeting and compliance. This position offers full-time hours and a benefits package.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of payroll methods and related regulations.
• Strong accounting terminology and principles.
• Proficiency with MS Office including Excel for payroll analyses.
• Familiarity with ESS systems and payroll software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and processes biweekly payroll and associated tax withholdings.
• Files wage and tax reports and maintains payroll records.
• Performs GL reconciliations for salary and fringe benefits.
• Works under supervision to ensure regulatory compliance and reporting.
• Maintains position control files and payroll documentation.
