Job summary

The anticipated base salary ranges from $106,000 to $139,000, with final compensation based on experience and location; the position offers

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience, including payroll tax compliance and reporting.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing payroll teams.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems and timekeeping, and MS 365.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

  • Lead full-cycle payroll operations and ensure tax compliance.
  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to improve processes and drive efficiencies.
  • Coach and develop payroll team to deliver high performance.
  • Manage payroll reporting, audits, and garnishments if applicable.

This individual will serve as a trusted partner to stakeholders across the business while identifying opportunities to improve processes, drive efficiencies, and enhance overall payroll operations.

The ideal candidate brings proven payroll leadership experience, strong communication and relationship-building skills, and a collaborative, results-driven approach. Success in this role will come from quickly establishing strong cross‑functional partnerships, gaining a deep understanding of current payroll processes, and leading initiatives that improve both team performance and operational effectiveness.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $106,000.00 - $139,000.00. This information reflects the anticipated base salary for this position based on current market data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Actual pay will be adjusted based on an individual’s skills, experiences, education, and other job‑related factors permitted by law.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • 7+ years of full-cycle payroll processing experience, including payroll tax compliance, reporting, and regulatory requirements.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing, mentoring, and developing payroll teams.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll/HRIS systems, timekeeping systems, and Microsoft O365.
  • Experience managing payroll operations, including tax filings, W-2 reporting, garnishments, audits, reconciliations, and special pay processing.
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across all levels of an organization.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • A collaborative, relationship‑focused leader who is passionate about continuous improvement and developing high‑performing teams.
Nice to Have
  • Union and construction payroll experience, including experience with multi‑state payroll processing.
  • Knowledge of per diem processing, prevailing wage requirements, and union reporting.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
  • Experience leading payroll system implementations, process improvements, or large‑scale payroll projects.
  • Broad understanding of accounting, finance, and General Ledger reconciliation processes.
  • Experience with Capstone, E‑Time, or similar payroll and timekeeping systems.
  • Exposure to fringe benefit administration, expense reimbursement programs, and wage attachment processing.
  • Ability to identify efficiencies, streamline processes, and implement payroll best practices across a complex organization.
