Job summary

Averro is seeking a Payroll Manager on the West Coast to lead full-cycle payroll for 1,700+ employees and supervise two staff. You will oversee audits, tax filings, 401(k) contributions, and year-end processing while driving SOPs and controls during an ERP rollout.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in multi-state payroll, 5+ years of supervision, and an accounting degree, with knowledge of payroll taxes and regulatory changes.

• Knowledge of the accounting cycle and payroll regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead full-cycle, bi-weekly multi-state payroll for 1,700+ employees; supervise two payroll staff.
• Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, journal entries, tax filings, garnishments, and W-2 processing.
• Develop SOPs and internal controls; improve payroll workflows during ERP rollout.
• Partner with HR and Finance to resolve payroll issues and stay current on regulations.

Role & Responsibilities

We are seeking a Payroll Manager for an employee-owned West Coast produce distributor which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in multi-state payroll and team supervision looking to further their career in payroll leadership.

• Lead full-cycle, bi-weekly multi-state payroll for 1,700+ employees; supervise and coach two payroll staff
• Oversee payroll audits, reconciliations, journal entries, tax filings, garnishments, 401(k) contributions, and year-end W-2 processing
• Develop SOPs and internal controls; improve payroll workflows and scalability during a new ERP rollout
• Partner with HR, Finance, and leaders to resolve payroll issues; stay current on payroll tax regulations

Essential Qualifications

• 10+ years of multi-state payroll processing experience, including 5+ years supervising payroll staff
• Accounting degree (AAS or BS) required
• Knowledge of the accounting cycle, Microsoft Office proficiency, and attention to detail

Bonus Qualifications

• CPP or similar payroll certification
• ADP Workforce Now / ADP Time & Attendance experience
• California payroll experience
