Job summary

Sylvania in Santa Fe, NM is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead district payroll operations, ensure accurate and timely pay, and maintain compliance with federal and state laws, NM PED requirements, district policies, and applicable regulations.

The role supervises payroll staff, maintains records, works with Human Resources and Finance, analyzes payroll processes, and provides responsive service to employees regarding payroll matters.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED not required here, but from minimum qualifications list.

Job description

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED;
• 3 year minimum payroll experience
• Specific knowledge of Personnel laws are required including but not limited to FMLA, FLSA, etc. preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible payroll experience.
• Experience processing payroll in a governmental or public-school environment preferred.
• Experience with automated payroll and financial management systems.
• Valid New Mexico Driver's License.

Skills/Aptitudes:

• Thorough knowledge of payroll administration principles.
• Knowledge of federal and New Mexico payroll laws.
• Knowledge of school finance and governmental accounting practices.

Position Summary

The Payroll Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and administering all district payroll functions to ensure the accurate and timely payment of all employees in accordance with federal and state laws, New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) requirements, district policies, and applicable regulations. The Payroll Manager supervises payroll operations, maintains payroll records, oversees payroll compliance, collaborates with Human Resources and Finance, and provides excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll matters.
