Our client, a Connecticut-based investment management firm, seeks an International Payroll Manager to own the global payroll function and lead international payroll operations for roughly 400 employees across multiple countries and legal entities. The role partners closely with the existing Payroll Manager to ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing worldwide.

This is a highly visible role within a 5–6 person payroll team, offering ownership and impact over the firm’s international payroll

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of payroll experience, including international or multi-country processing.
  • Experience managing payroll across multiple international jurisdictions, including the UK and EMEA/APAC regions.
  • Proficiency with global payroll platforms and HCM systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end international payroll processing across multiple entities and jurisdictions.
  • Process recurring payrolls, bonuses, and off-cycle payrolls as needed.
  • Review and validate payroll inputs (hires, terminations, changes, benefits, leaves).
  • Reconcile payroll reports, funding, and post-payroll activities for accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare payroll funding forecasts and coordinate with Finance on cash planning.
  • Maintain payroll schedules and ensure timely execution across countries.
  • Serve as primary contact for international payroll inquiries and cross-functional support.
  • Provide backup for domestic payroll operations as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax, labor laws, and reporting obligations across jurisdictions.
  • Support audits related to payroll, tax, benefits, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates to payroll processes.
  • Drive continuous improvement of payroll reconciliations, reporting, and controls.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of payroll information.
  • Manage relationships with global payroll vendors and third-party providers.
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, Accounting, Tax and external providers.

Our client, a Connecticut-based investment management firm, is seeking an International Payroll Manager to take ownership of its global payroll function.

This individual will serve as the lead for international payroll operations, overseeing payroll for approximately 400 employees across multiple countries and legal entities. The role is part of a collaborative 5–6 person payroll team and will partner closely with the existing Payroll Manager to ensure accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll processing worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
Global Payroll Operations
  • Lead end-to-end international payroll processing across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions throughout the Asia-Pacific and Middle East regions.
  • Process recurring payrolls, bonus payments, and off-cycle payrolls as required.
  • Review and validate payroll inputs, including new hires, terminations, compensation changes, incentive payments, benefits, leaves of absence, and statutory deductions.
  • Reconcile payroll reports, funding requests, bank files, and post-payroll activities to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare payroll funding forecasts and partner with Finance on cash planning.
  • Maintain payroll schedules and ensure timely execution across all supported countries.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for international payroll-related inquiries and cross-functional support.
  • Provide backup support for domestic payroll operations as needed.
Compliance & Governance
  • Ensure payroll compliance with applicable local tax regulations, labor laws, social insurance requirements, and statutory reporting obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Maintain payroll policies, procedures, and process documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits related to payroll, tax, benefits, and financial reporting.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement updates to payroll processes and controls as necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement of payroll reconciliations, reporting, and operational controls to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality and integrity when handling sensitive employee and payroll information.
  • Manage relationships with global payroll vendors and third‑party service providers.
  • Monitor vendor performance, track outstanding issues, and coordinate timely resolution with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Partner closely with Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Tax, and external providers to ensure seamless payroll operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that enhance payroll accuracy, compliance, reporting, and the overall employee experience.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of payroll experience, including significant international or multi-country payroll processing.
  • Demonstrated experience managing payroll across multiple international jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom and countries throughout the EMEA and APAC regions.
  • Proficiency with global payroll platforms and Human Capital Management (HCM) systems.
