Job summary

MNTN is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join our Finance team. You will own the end-to-end payroll process for 400+ employees, ensure compliance with payroll tax rules, and partner with People and Accounting on changes, audits, and ad hoc reports.

Your role demands accuracy, confidentiality, and strong communication to resolve payroll inquiries and drive process improvements in a fast-paced ad-tech environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years performing all payroll functions.
• Quarterly and Annual Payroll audit experience.
• Experience ensuring external tax and reporting requirements are met on a timely basis (audit, filing, amendments, reporting, etc.).
• Hands-on, detail-oriented, team-oriented, and self-directed approach to work.
• Partnered with shared services groups to keep communication open regarding employee changes and onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for company wide semi-monthly Paylocity payroll processing, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions, for over 400 employees start to finish.
• Collect and review all payroll submissions, working with People team and partners on payroll matters.
• Ensure accurate and timely approval and processing of payroll updates (new hires, terminations, changes to pay rates).
• Assist with and resolve payroll issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and discretion.
• Stay up to date on payroll regulations and compliance.

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Manager to join our Finance team. This team member will be responsible for the entire payroll process for a company of 400+ individuals. A successful candidate will ensure strict compliance with institutional and regulatory standards and will be well organized and comfortable dealing with payroll data. Excellent people skills and an aptitude for accuracy in payroll processing is a must.

You will:

• Responsible for company wide semi-monthly Paylocity payroll processing, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions, for over 400 employees start to finish
• Collect and review all payroll submissions, working closely with our People team and other business partners on payroll-related matters
• Ensure accurate and timely approval and processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates, etc.
• Assist with and resolve all payroll issues
• Maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
• Remain up to date on new regulations and compliance regarding payroll and payroll tax.
• Responsible for company wide semi-monthly Paylocity payroll processing for over 400 employees start to finish
• Experience troubleshooting all Payroll discrepancies and resolve them timely
• Reviewing and audit employee data prior to processing payroll (bonuses, pay increases, commissions, and 401, etc.)
• Process off-cycle payrolls as needed for final paychecks, end of year payouts, etc.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, garnishments, and other related items
• Create custom and ad hoc reports for the Human Resources, Finance, and other departments as needed
• Performing Year-End payroll processing, audit, and W-2 Issuance Experience with integrated services (401k, Benefits, FSA, HAS, etc.)
• Organize, review and process complex, monthly and quarterly bonus and commission payments

Payroll Tax

• Quarterly and Annual Payroll audit to tie out tax returns and W-2's.
• Ensure external tax and reporting requirements are met on a timely basis (audit, filing, amendments, reporting, etc.).

Accounting

• Prepare and process journal entries and allocations, including preparation of journal entries and reconciliation of accounts
• Support other accounting-related activities and special projects as assigned by Finance
• Fulfill yearly audit requests, and other audit requests as assigned

SOX

• Prepare SOP's and internal procedures
• Analyze processes and procedures for maximum efficiency and effectiveness
• Perform and monitor internal controls related to SOX compliance

You have:

• 5+ years performing all payroll functions
• Quarterly and Annual Payroll audit experience
• Experience ensuring external tax and reporting requirements are met on a timely basis (audit, filing, amendments, reporting, etc.).
• A hands-on, detail-oriented, team-oriented, and self-directed approach to your work
• Partnered with all shared services groups (People, Accounting, Legal) to keep on an open line of communication regarding employee changes and onboarding process
• Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
• Excellent communication, spelling and grammar skills (negotiating and problem-solving skills required)
• Microsoft Excel: Intermediate to Advanced experience
• Journal entry and general ledger experience, required
• Strong skills using and understanding the flow of transactions in an integrated and automated payroll accounting system
• CPP Certification, preferred
• Experience with large payroll systems, preferably with ADP
• Experience with HR & Payroll systems migration is a huge plus!
