Job summary

Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking an experienced payroll leader to guide a team responsible for full-cycle payroll for semi-monthly and monthly groups. The role involves regulatory filings, reconciliation, and cross‑department collaboration to ensure accurate payroll processing.

You will work on Workday payroll projects, improve controls, and coordinate with HR, ITS, and Accounting Services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, Accounting, or related field required
• 4 years of hands-on payroll processing experience in an ERP for 2000+ employees
• Experience with semi-monthly and monthly payrolls
• Ability to reconcile monthly accounts

Responsibilities

• Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for semi-monthly and monthly groups
• Manage day-to-day payroll operations and data accuracy
• Develop and implement payroll procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy
• Train and supervise payroll team members
• Coordinate with Accounting Services to resolve reconciliations
• Handle regulatory filings including IRS, SSA, Colorado Dept of Revenue, W-2s, 941s
• Serve as liaison with state/federal agencies and external vendors
• Assist with year-end W-2 and 1042S filings and year-end close
• Support financial audits
• Assist with Workday Payroll Projects and data integrity
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address risks and provide reporting
• Maintain payroll system usage audits and security
