Pay Rate: $30.00hr –$ 40.00HR (Pay based upon experience and education)

Summary

Our client, a growing organization based in Royal Oak, Michigan, is seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to join their team on a part-time, remote basis. This role will be responsible for managing the full-cycle payroll process for approximately 300 employees across 15 locations on a bi‑weekly payroll schedule. The ideal candidate will have strong payroll processing experience, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Duties of the Payroll/HR Specialist - (Part time)

• Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for approximately 300 employees across 15 locations.
• Review payroll data, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, benefits, and tax withholdings.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee inquiries, and payroll-related issues.
• Coordinate payroll changes including new hires, terminations, promotions, wage adjustments, and benefit deductions.
• Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll audits as needed.
• Ensure payroll taxes and related filings are processed accurately and on time.
• Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting teams to maintain accurate employee and payroll records.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
• Support continuous improvement efforts related to payroll processes and procedures.

Requirements of the Payroll Specialist – (Part time)

• 3+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-location environment.
• Experience processing payroll for a workforce of 200+ employees preferred.
• Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with Paycor and/or QuickBooks is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a remote setting.
• CPP certification is a plus but not required.
