Costello’s Ace Hardware in Deer Park, NY is hiring a Payroll & HR Manager to lead weekly and bi-weekly payroll for 1,000+ employees and oversee HRIS data management. You will handle recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance across multiple states, while partnering with leadership to support a family-oriented, growth-driven retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Own and process accurate weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for 1,000+ employees.
• Review payroll data, timekeeping, deductions, and employee changes for accuracy.
• Handle compensation changes, garnishments, direct deposits, and payroll transactions.
• Audit payrolls, resolve discrepancies, and maintain confidentiality of payroll data.
• Prepare payroll reports for HR leadership and executive management.
• Stay current with wage-and-hour laws across multiple states.
• Maintain accurate employee records in Paycom and other HR systems.
• Coordinate onboarding, offboarding, and employee lifecycle transactions.
• Ensure electronic personnel files are complete and compliant.
• Support HRIS process improvements and assist with system access issues.
• Manage job postings and applicant tracking across multiple platforms.
• Screen candidates, conduct initial phone interviews, and coordinate hiring processes.
• Support recruiting events and companywide staffing initiatives.
• Provide day-to-day HR guidance and coaching to managers and employees.
• Support consistent application of company policies and employee relations.
• Assist with compliance, employee verifications, and incident documentation.
• Contribute to HR plans, programs, and special projects.
