Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field; equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
• 2+ years of accounting experience including journal entries, account reconciliations, general ledger accounting, and month-end close responsibilities. Experience supporting payroll accounting activities is preferred.
• Understanding of general accounting principles, accrual accounting, account reconciliations, and financial reporting requirements under US GAAP. Experience with payroll accounting is preferred.
• Experience preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close activities.
• Experience preparing balance sheet reconciliations, maintaining general ledger accounts, and supporting financial reporting activities.
• Understanding of compensation-related accounting transactions, payroll accruals, and employee-related liabilities.
• Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally across Payroll, HR, Finance, and other business functions.
• Self-motivated with a proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger accounts related to employee compensation, benefits, and payroll activities, ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with company accounting policies and applicable regulations.
• Prepare and post payroll-related journal entries, including wages, taxes, benefits, accruals, and other compensation-related transactions.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end reconciliations of payroll accounts, investigating and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Perform balance sheet account reconciliations and ensure payroll-related transactions are accurately reflected within the general ledger and financial statements.
• Support payroll month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met with a high degree of accuracy and completeness.
• Support accounting and reconciliation activities related to payroll taxes, employee benefits, accrued compensation, and other employee-related liabilities.
• Partner with Payroll, Human Resources, and Finance teams to ensure accurate accounting treatment of employee compensation, benefits, bonuses, and equity-related transactions.
• Support internal and external audits by preparing required documentation, schedules, and supporting analyses.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls, SOX compliance requirements, and corporate governance standards related to payroll accounting processes.
• Analyze account activity, identify financial variances and trends, and prepare supporting schedules and analyses for management reporting.
• Support financial system implementations, process improvements, testing activities, and controls validation related to accounting operations.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and enhanced controls to improve efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
• Contribute to a culture of accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence within the finance organization.
