Job summary

California Department of Public Health is seeking the Payroll and Benefit Services Unit Chief to oversee PBSU daily operations, supervise staff, and deliver payroll, disability, and benefit services to program employees. The Supervisor I will guide work plans, training, and special projects under the Supervisor II.

Salary ranges are $7,172–$8,910 monthly in Sacramento with hybrid telework; this is a permanent, full-time position.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Payroll and Benefit Services Unit (PBSU) and supervise staff providing payroll, disability, and benefit services.
• Direct workload, training, and special projects; monitor deadlines and coordinate with analysts and senior staff.
• Represent PBSU in program meetings, trainings, Attendance Coordinator and Personnel Liaison meetings.
