Job summary

Eaton County Health & Rehabilitation Services is seeking a Payroll/Benefits Specialist to join the Administrative Services team. You will oversee payroll processing, benefits management, and related HR functions, ensuring accurate data, compliance, and timely reporting across the organization.

The role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong mathematical ability, and the capacity to collaborate with Finance and Human Resources to support the annual budget and HR initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of experience plus specialized payroll & benefits experience (FPC, CPP, CEBS) recommended; specialization can be obtained after starting
• Excellent mathematical abilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows environment; includes Excel and database management
• Knowledge of payroll and benefits systems
• High level of confidentiality in practices
• Ability to organize time, follow instructions, and adapt to frequent changes

Responsibilities

• Manage entire payroll process, time entry, deductions, taxes, reports, and journal entries
• Ensure accurate timecards by department managers
• Back up Administrative Services Director for month-end payroll journal entries
• Forecast and prepare projected payroll and benefits data for annual budget
• Ensure proper department cost reporting and pay structure fairness
• Administer benefits programs including FMLA and COBRA
• Oversee enrollment meetings and respond to payroll/benefit inquiries
• Maintain personnel files and ensure compliance with policies
• Assist with internal HR audits and BeWell program coordination
• Co-Chair BeWell Program with Therapy Manager
