Job summary

CFS in Windsor Mill, MD is seeking a Staff Accountant - Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join its Finance team. This hybrid role blends payroll, benefits administration, and accounting, supporting employees and maintaining accurate records for HR initiatives.

You will process payroll accurately, administer health and retirement benefits, ensure ACA/HIPAA compliance, and collaborate with HR to resolve discrepancies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Experience in payroll processing, benefits administration, and accounting.
• Experience with ADP and Sage is required.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and timely while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Analyze payroll data and assist with process improvements and operational reporting.
• Prepare and record payroll-related journal entries and maintain proper general ledger coding.
• Partner with HR and Finance to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
• Administer employee healthcare, dental, vision, FSA, and retirement benefit programs.
• Coordinate benefits enrollment, changes, and annual reporting requirements.
• Serve as the primary liaison with the organization's benefits broker.
• Ensure compliance with ACA, HIPAA, and other applicable regulations.
• Support ad hoc accounting and finance projects as needed.
