Job summary

Horry County, SC is seeking a detail-oriented Insurance/Payroll specialist to manage reconciliation of PEBA bills for retirees, Cobra and active subscribers, and to audit payroll deductions against PEBA records. You will record retiree and Cobra expenses in GL and maintain retiree health care balances.

You will liaise with HR and retirees, assist with biweekly payroll, balance GL to payroll, and complete quarterly payroll filings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in business, finance or accounting, with 3–5 years of governmental accounting experience.
• Proficient in Excel and accounting procedures.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile monthly PEBA bill for retirees, Cobra and active subscribers.
• Audit active subscribers to verify payroll deductions.
• Create GL journal entries for active, retirees and Cobra expenses.
• Maintain retiree health care member balances.
• Correspond with retiree healthcare vendor monthly.
• Assist with biweekly payroll and reconcile GL to payroll.
• Prepare quarterly payroll filings.
• Create and maintain billing/invoicing for rents and reimbursements.
