Job description

The Payroll and Recruiting Clerk is responsible for managing payroll processing and supporting talent acquisition activities. This role ensures employees are paid accurately and on time while assisting with recruiting efforts to attract, hire, and onboard qualified candidates. The position requires strong attention to detail, confidentiality, and excellent organizational and communication skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Payroll Administration
  • Process semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain payroll records, including wages, deductions, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
  • Process new hire information, terminations, and employee changes in the payroll system.
  • Review timesheets and resolve discrepancies with managers and employees.
  • Manage payroll deductions such as benefits, garnishments, and taxes.
  • Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits as needed.
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll and compensation information.
  • Assist with special HR or payroll projects as needed.
Recruiting and Talent Acquisition
  • Post job openings on job boards, company website, and recruiting platforms.
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial candidate phone interviews as needed.
  • Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers.
  • Manage candidate communication throughout the hiring process.
  • Assist with preparing offer letters and employment documentation.
  • Coordinate background checks and pre-employment screenings.
  • Support onboarding of new hires including documentation and orientation scheduling.
  • Maintain applicant tracking system and recruiting records.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
  • Strong organizational skills, Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Must display strong team mentality, and desire to help co-workers maximize their own potential
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field preferred. 2+ years of payroll processing experience required. Experience with recruiting or HR support functions preferred. Knowledge of payroll systems (Paylocity, ADP, Paychex, or similar).

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Basic personal computer skills including, email, record keeping and the following software packages: Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel

WORK SCHEDULE:

Typically work hours and days assigned: 40 hours per week, generally 5 work days - Monday through Friday with hours between 8am and 5pm.
