TCI Works in Rocky Mount, NC, is hiring a Payroll Specialist to manage the biweekly payroll process, tax payments, deductions, and benefits setup. This full-time, exempt role includes maintaining payroll data and providing accurate reports to the Finance team.
The ideal candidate will have a BA degree and 3–5 years of payroll experience, with strong Excel and preferred Dynamics 365 Business Central experience. The position requires 36 hours per week, Monday–Thursday.

Manage the biweekly payroll process from preparation through
submission, including employee payroll changes, deductions, tax elections, direct deposits, PTO, and other payroll adjustments; add and maintain employees in Business Central and and the timekeeping system; review payroll information and reports for accuracy and investigate to resolve discrepancies;prepare payroll for final review and obtain approval from the Finance Director and President prior to submission; submit
approved payroll accurately and timely; calculate and submit federal and state payroll tax payments and complete required quarterly and annual payroll reports and filings; coordinate preparation and distribution of W-2s and other required pay-roll documentation and serve as the primary contact for employee payroll questions and concerns. Assist with time-keeping issues and administration and provide payroll information and reports to the Accounting Team.
Serve as the primary employee contact for benefit selections,enrollment, changes and questions; meet with new employees following HR orientation to review payroll setup, tax elections, direct deposit and available benefits; process benefit enrollments and employee- requested changes through the organization’s vendor; review and assist employees with life-event changes; coordinate the annual open enrollment process,including deadlines and follow-up; monitor payroll deductions to ensure they correspond with employee benefit elections and coordinate benefits errors and changes with the vendor to resolve coverage and deduction issues.
BA degree, in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Human Resources or other related business fields. Possess three to five years of payroll experience of payroll processing, payroll taxes, deductions, and payroll reporting; proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred; exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills; excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; and possess the ability to work independently, manage recurring deadlines and exercise sound judgment.
