Job summary

Schwan’s Company is hiring a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to join our team. This primarily remote role includes occasional meetups in Hopkins, MN or Marshall, MN, and targets payroll processing accuracy across wages, bonuses, and deductions.

You will review timekeeping, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with HR and Finance to maintain data integrity while supporting continuous process improvements.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience as a Payroll Analyst or similar role
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Solid understanding of payroll principles, regulations, and best practices
• Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
• Up-to-date knowledge of payroll-related laws and regulations
• CPP certification is a plus

Responsibilities

• Collect, review, and verify timekeeping records for accuracy
• Process payroll data including wages, bonuses, commissions, overtime, and other adjustments
• Analyze and reconcile payroll data to ensure accurate and timely payments
• Identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in payroll records
• Perform audits of payroll activities to ensure compliance with policies and laws
• Ensure payroll processing adheres to federal, state, and local regulations and company policies
• Verify system prorations and retro pay calculations
• Maintain accurate payroll records and employee information in the payroll system
• Continuously evaluate and improve payroll processes for efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
• Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other functions to ensure accurate employee data

What You Will Do:

• Collect, review, and verify timekeeping records and hours worked for accuracy.
• Process payroll related data in a timely manner, includes wages, bonuses, commissions, overtime, and other adjustments.

What You Will Bring :

• 1+ year(s) of experience as a Payroll Analyst or in a similar payroll processing role.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field (or equivalent work experience)
• Solid understanding of payroll principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Proficiency in payroll software and MS Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Up-to-date knowledge of payroll-related laws and regulations.
• Certification such as Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is a plus.

What We Offer:

The base salary range for this position is $48,000 - $80,000 annually with eligibility for a 5% annual incentive bonus, which is based on organizational performance. The salary range represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to education, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
