Job summary

State of Maryland in Annapolis is seeking a payroll professional to ensure accurate, timely payroll processing across three systems—Regular payroll, University of Maryland payroll, and Contractual payroll—and to perform reconciliations of payroll and tax withholding accounts.

You will learn to balance year-end reporting, audit internal production jobs, and complete federal and state tax filings and payments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university, including or supplemented by three credit hours in auditing.
• Experience: None
• Candidates may substitute a Bachelor’s degree with thirty credit hours in Accounting and related courses, including or supplemented by three credit hours auditing, for the education requirement.
• Applicants who have met CPA admission requirements prior to July 1, 1974 will be considered to have met the educational requirement.

Responsibilities

• Learn to ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant administration of payroll across three payroll systems.
• Process payroll transactions in R*STARS that affect agency budgets.
• Perform comprehensive reconciliations across payroll processes and tax withholding accounts.
• Balance year-end reporting control totals and complete payroll tax filings and payments.
