Job summary

Met Opera seeks a detail‑oriented Payroll Clerk to process complex weekly payrolls for diverse employee groups, ensuring timeliness, accuracy and compliance with collective bargaining agreements and regulations. You will Enter data for new and existing employees, respond to payroll inquiries, and support the Finance Department with reconciliations and analyses.

• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Excellent mathematical skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
• Minimum of one year payroll experience.
• Prior union environment experience preferred.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Top-notch customer service and organization skills.
• Opera knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process complex weekly payrolls for varied employee groups.
• Enter data for new and existing employees.
• Support payroll research and analysis.
• Assist employees with payroll questions and issues.
• Respond to unemployment claims and related inquiries.
• Maintain paid time off records.
• Resolve payroll discrepancies and ensure compliance.
• Provide admin support and finance documentation.
• Coordinate electronic payments and banking information.
• Assist with other finance tasks as needed.
