Job summary

Lafourche Parish School District BUSINESS OFFICE – PAYROLL in Thibodaux, Louisiana is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to manage monthly payrolls and related reporting. You will handle ACH transfers, tax deposits, W-2 preparation, and budget reporting in a collaborative environment with the Personnel and Business departments.

The role requires a B.S. in Accounting or Business Administration, payroll experience, and strong communication and math skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Accounting or Business Administration with at least 27 semester hours in accounting.
• Three years experience in payroll preferred.
• Demonstrate competence in assigned tasks and proficiency in the use of microcomputers and other business machines.
• Experience with MUNIS software preferred.
• Possess good communication and mathematical skills.
• Ability to exercise judgment in making decisions in accordance with policies and practices of the Business Department.
• Ability to prioritize goals and be self-motivated.

Responsibilities

• Proofs each monthly payroll prior to release.
• Initiates ACH transfers.
• Deposits state and local taxes with appropriate agency.
• Prepares monthly/quarterly/annual payroll reports.
• Compiles monthly salaries and deductions for W-2 forms.
• Verifies payroll information for Comprehensive Budget and Annual Statistical Report.
• Produces Federal A-87 Time Certification reports.
• Works with Personnel Department to ensure accuracy of Position Control files.
• Maintains payroll encumbrances.
• Works with PEP Coordinator on submissions of all required reports.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or by Superintendent.
