Job summary

Lockton in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Payroll Accountant to ensure accurate reconciliation of payroll-related accounts and to support financial integrity across the organization. You will research and reconcile payroll journal entries, correct errors, record non-automated payroll journals to third-party payments, and assist with tax adjustments across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field, 3+ years of payroll accounting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3+ years of experience in payroll accounting or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of payroll systems and accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll software (e.g., Workday, PeopleSoft, Oracle).
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Executives and other internal customers.

Responsibilities

• Research and reconcile payroll-related journal entries and general ledger accounts.
• Correct journal errors.
• Record non-automated payroll journals third party payments.
• Assist with reconciling tax adjustments from federal, state, and/or local jurisdictions.
• Respond to inquiries regarding payroll and accounting issues in a timely and professional manner.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to resolve discrepancies and improve processes.
