Job summary

East West Bank is seeking a Payment Specialist to manage ACH and EFT processing in a fast-paced banking environment. You will review, process, and reconcile ACH prefunding files, handle exceptions, and assist with EFT disputes while ensuring NACHA compliance and fraud prevention.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years in banking, knowledge of NACHA rules, and strong communication skills. A detail-oriented, multitasking mindset with proficiency in Word/Excel is essential.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of experience in banking with ACH and wire processing preferred.
• Knowledge of NACHA rules and card networks.
• 10-key by touch, 40–50 WPM with high accuracy.
• Understanding of reconcilement processes (GLs, debits, credits).
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, highly secure production environment.
• Strong attention to detail and proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Excellent verbal and written communication with internal and external partners.
• Knowledge of FIS core and payment systems or similar preferred.
• Willingness to work afterhours and weekends when needed.

Responsibilities

• Accurate handling of ACH and EFT claim activity ensuring payments are compliant with Bank procedures, regulatory & NACHA requirements.
• Process, research, and resolve ACH reject activity within established SLAs.
• Investigate and resolve payment discrepancies, including unauthorized transactions and chargeback activity.
• Monitor, review, and clear ACH fraud alerts according to Bank policy.
• Track and follow up on status of all pending ACH batches.
• Exception handling review, including follow-ups with internal departments on pending responses, process return files and reconcile daily activity.
• Process EFT claims, including reviewing supporting documentation, updating dispute logs, following up on pending claims, and tracking resolution status withing established SLAs.
• Cross train and support wire processing activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
