Job summary

Marqeta is seeking a Counsel, Product and Regulatory to drive complex legal and regulatory initiatives across payments products in a fast-paced fintech environment. You will act as a trusted advisor on rules for prepaid, debit and credit card products, including EFTA/Reg E, Durbin/Reg II, and TILA/Reg Z.

You will partner with product, engineering, risk and GTM teams to manage risks, advise on compliance, monitor new regulations, and enable launches with sponsor banks and customers.

Qualifications

• 5+ years’ experience in‑house in fintech or banking or at a reputable law firm, focusing on prepaid/debit/credit card space.
• Deep understanding of payments industry laws and regulations affecting banks and ecosystem participants.
• Ability to drive complex projects to completion in a fast-paced environment; strong business judgment.
• Excellent written and oral communication; capable of working with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Advise on rules and regulations related to prepaid, debit, and credit card products (EFTA/Reg E, Durbin/Reg II, TILA/Reg Z, network rules).
• Provide legal guidance on payment laws, financial services regulations, consumer protection and enforcement actions.
• Assess risks, recommend mitigations, and advise cross‑functional stakeholders (product, eng, risk, GTM).
• Monitor new regulations in payments/financial services and assess applicability to Marqeta’s products.
• Collaborate with sponsor banks, customers, and internal teams to enable launches of new products and campaigns.
• Coordinate with outside counsel and manage legal matters; demonstrate integrity and judgment.
