Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a Product Designer to lead design for its foundational payments and monetization infrastructure. You will partner with product, engineering, design, and finance to shape how customers understand, manage, and pay for AI usage, extending beyond traditional checkout and billing.

You'll help define systems and experiences for new usage models, codex usage, and agentic workflows, influencing both product strategy and underlying infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Strong UX/UI design and interaction design skills.
• Able to connect user experiences to platform logic and business rules.
• Experience with payments, billing, monetization, or usage-based products.

Responsibilities

• Lead design direction for payments, billing, and monetization across OpenAI products.
• Design end-to-end product experiences from concepts to production-ready designs.
• Shape infrastructure and frameworks for pay-as-you-go and usage-based models.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, finance, and design to define strategy and roadmaps.
• Translate complex platform dependencies into clear, scalable user experiences.
• Conduct user research to understand pricing, usage tracking, and purchasing decisions.
• Contribute to and evolve design systems for payments with consistency across products.
• Help establish design culture for a foundational product area.
