Job summary

OpenAI is seeking a product designer to lead the design of payments and monetization infrastructure across consumer and enterprise products. You will partner with product, engineering, design, and finance to shape experiences that help users understand, manage, and pay for emerging AI usage.

This role sits in San Francisco and includes relocation assistance. You will drive end-to-end design, influence platform strategy, and craft scalable, trustworthy experiences that support pay-as-you-go

Qualifications

• Experience designing complex, infrastructure-adjacent, platform or enterprise product experiences.
• Strong UX/UI and interaction design skills with a high bar for quality.
• Ability to lead an ambiguous product area and shape a roadmap with partners.
• Ability to explain complex decisions to technical, business, and design stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead design for foundational payments, billing, and monetization across OpenAI products.
• Design end-to-end product experiences from concept to high-fidelity prototypes and production-ready designs.
• Shape infrastructure and product frameworks for pay-as-you-go, Codex usage, and agentic workflows.
• Partner with engineering, product, finance, and design to define platform strategy and roadmap.
• Translate complex dependencies and financial logic into clear, scalable user experiences.
• Lead user research to understand pricing, usage tracking, and purchasing decisions.
• Contribute to and evolve design systems and patterns for payments across OpenAI products.
• Help establish design culture for a growing foundational product area.
