Job summary

Discord is hiring for a Payments & Fraud Analyst in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will own end-to-end fraud detection, payments operations, and risk assessment, driving strategic improvements and cross-functional partnerships with Engineering, Legal, Product and Revenue.

You will analyze fraud and payments data with SQL, build monitoring dashboards, and mentor teammates, while helping to launch new products with controlled risk and optimized revenue.

Qualifications

• 4–5+ years of experience in payments, fraud, or risk operations.
• Deep working knowledge of payments flows and card network rules (Visa, Mastercard, Amex).
• Proficiency in SQL with hands-on data querying and analysis.
• Experience building reporting and monitoring workflows using BI and alerting tools.
• Proven ability to independently own end-to-end function and run mid-size programs.
• Comfort solving ambiguous problems with multiple options and risk awareness.
• Strong written and verbal communication for cross-functional and senior stakeholders.
• Experience mentoring others and serving as a technical resource.

Responsibilities

• Own high-scale fraud detection, payments operations, and risk assessment end-to-end.
• Lead complex fraud investigations and translate findings into concrete proposals.
• Write SQL queries and build dashboards/alerts to track performance.
• Program manage cross-functional initiatives with Engineering, Legal, Product, Revenue.
• Contribute to risk assessments for new product launches and mitigation strategies.
• Communicate business impact of work to stakeholders pre, during, and post-launch.
• Mentor junior team members and share knowledge across the team.
